In the summer of 2009, I took part in the Typographic Design Summer Workshop at the Basel School of Design in Basel, Switzerland. It was a week of typographic experimentation with fantastic designers from all around the world.

My challenge was to take a letterform and change only one aspect of the character. I chose to design variations on the "tail" of the letter R and this animated GIF is my final result:
